Nobody likes to think about wrinkles and signs of aging. However, as much as we hate it, it WILL happen. Sadly “forever young” is not something that actually happens in real life. Here are 6 common facial skin conditions you can look forward to:
Wrinkles are the most obvious signs of aging. How do they form? Your skin consists of 2 major layer:
Epidermis – Outermost protective layer, protecting you from the sun, pollutants, etc. This is the layer that holds onto moisture and helps shed your skin of dead cells.
Dermis – This is the layer that houses collagen and keeps your skin elastic.
As you age, the epidermis’ ability to retain as much moisture eventually slows down. In addition, the collagen in the dermis eventually weakens and start to break down, reducing its elasticity. Wrinkles are then developed.
What are Crow’s feet? They are the wrinkles you see on the side of someone’s eyes that resemble bird feet. The skin around your eyes are the most sensitive layers of skin on your body. Extra care is always recommended with added Vitamin C, sunscreen, and moisture around those areas.
This is another natural sign of aging. However, it is more prominent in some than others. It’s believed that sun damage can also create obvious drooped eyes due the skin’s inability to produce enough healthy collagen for more elasticity.
As mentioned in our post about brown spot formation, age spots are defense mechanisms of our skin from ultraviolet radiation, which is known to be a major factor in the cause of skin cancer.
Some people love the look of freckles, but age spots, though they might look a bit like freckles, do have the ability to form in undesirable locations. Sometimes, they might also show up in unpleasant looking clusters.
Yes, double chin can be a result of excessive eating and fat. However, it can also be another sign of aging. Again, the older we get, the less elastic our skin gets. Hence, the double chin. Some people believe you can get rid of it with the help of proper exercises. However, as we know, there is only so much we can do before prevention is no longer an option.
People say the two most obvious places to find the range of someone’s age are their hands and their neck. Why? Most women tend to pay close attention to skincare on their faces, but forget to add sun protection and/or added moisture onto their neck area, not realizing this quick process can help lengthen the time before their turkey neck begins to appear.
No matter how advanced products and technology are, we can’t run away from the inevitable signs of aging. However, you can always try preventative measures to slow it down by eating healthy and including an antioxidant rich diet, applying enough vitamin C rich moisturizers, cleansing and exfoliating, and even using light therapy to target and repair the damaged layers of your skin.
